The Scarecrow Festival is taking a break in 2026, but we hope it will return in 2027. We need more support and locals to build scarecrows! In the first year (2021) we had over 40 scarecrow displays around the village, in 2025 it was only 15. Though they were all brilliant, wonderfully creative and greatly enjoyed, we need more participation if the event is to continue.
The Dinner Club continues on the 3rd Monday of the month at the Old School, providing a free meal for all Saltfleetby residents. You must live in the village to attend, and register for your place, as it's popular and limited. Local volunteers do a fantastic job of cooking healthy, delicious, home-made meals. A very busy day at the Saltfleetby Dinner Club on 20th July 2026:
Lasagne, salad and garlic bread for mains and a fantastic mango panne cota for pudding. Thank you Rosalyn.
We served up 56 dinners in total, 7 of which were takeaways for residents that couldn’t make it due to ill health or mobility issues. Thank you to our dedicated volunteers, Lesley, Jill, Richie, Dorothy and young Larna. Larna lives in North Somercotes and works with Ros at the weekends, she kindly helps us when she is on holiday from college. We’d like to welcome some new residents Nick & Linda to Saltfleetby and the dinner club that attended today. Thank you to all that attended.
56 meals were served at the Saltfleetby Dinner Club on 18th August 2026 consisting of: Ham and beef salad with new potatoes, coleslaw and homemade bread roll, lemon mousse with a lovely macaroon on top for pudding. Thank you to all our volunteers and Rosalyn
A Warm Welcome: during the winter months we open the Old School as a warm space, every other Monday between 12 and 3pm, providing free tea, coffee and biscuits to anyone, regardless of where you live. We hope to run the event again from November 2026, details to be confirmed.
