In October we had a welcome chance to meet the new landlords of the Prussian Queen Pub before its official re-opening, after months of being closed. A very enjoyable and well attended event where prizes were given for the best costumes and best decorated pumpkins. There were some amazing, original, spooky and well-made costumes. Children’s fancy-dress first prize went to a fantastic home-made Beetlejuice costume of Mrs Maitland’s scary face, looking just like the creepy character in the film! Second prize was awarded to a gruesome skeleton costume and third prize to the Skeleton Bride with skillful face painting and Mexican inspired outfit. The adult costume winner went to a group of convicts
in their blood splattered striped uniforms fresh from their prison break. Doggy costume winner went to the Wizard Dog. There were also some beautifully carved pumpkins all showing a lot of creativity and effort, the winner going to Cinderella’s magnificent Pumpkin Coach.
Kids could enjoy playing home-made games such as “Feed the Monster” (throwing balls into the open mouths of a witch, ghost, werewolf, Frankenstein’s monster and zombie painted on a board), "Witches and Ghosts Hoopla" and "Spooky Velcro Target Game". The disco was a lot of fun for all ages, and lots of great prizes were also given out in the raffle.
