On 15th April we held our first German Night at the old school. We’re lucky to have a wonderful, accomplished German cook living in the village, Monika, who runs Mons Cookery School and makes special handcrafted chocolates. Tickets were just £10 for a delicious meal of authentic, freshly prepared German street food. On the menu: Fikadellan (meatballs, also vegan) served with potato salad, German Schnitzel served with fried potatoes and Black Forest cake for dessert. Vegetarian and vegan options were also available. The old school hall looked magnificent decorated in the colours of the German flag, serving as a unique, beautiful and historic venue space. SOSH events committee members John and Jill even entered into the spirit of things by dressing in lederhosen and a dirndl. Monika’s culinary expertise was greatly appreciated by the diners of all ages who had a wonderful evening of delicious food in a cheerful, convivial atmosphere.
