Over 100 visitors from as far away as Nottingham, Grimsby and Cleethorpes attended our first Open Gardens Weekend on 9th and 10th July 2022. A beautifully sunny summers day, local residents kindly welcomed visitors to 6 unique gardens on the main road. Visitors could climb the historic gazebo, Prospect Tower, in the grounds of Saltfleetby House to enjoy wonderful views across the countryside. A range of delicious home-made jams, scones and elderflower cordials were on offer at Greenock with views of Wolds in the distance. Drinks were served at Grove Farm’s tiki bar where guests could admire some quirky features like the upside down tree and the spaniel on a swing! It was interesting to see the progress of renovation work converting the old school into a new social hub and café, with newly dug fishing pond at the back and wide range of plants for sale out front. The beautifully gardens of Mill House reflected the owners impressive gardening skills and dedication, teeming with a wide variety of lovingly maintained plants and flowers in full bloom. Tea and cakes were available at Elder House where children could enjoy a play area, lawn games and miniature fairy village. Thanks to all who kindly opened their gardens and those who attended. We hope to see you again in 2023.
