Open Gardens Weekend
Was planned for Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July 2024, but is now cancelled.
Due to fewer gardens wishing to take part this year, we've sadly had to cancel this year's event.

  • Are the gardens wheelchair accessible?
Yes, all the gardens can be accessed by a disabled visitor using a wheelchair. There's gravel at Elder House which can be very tricky for wheelchairs, and some small kerbs and bumpy surfaces at others. Get in touch if you need further details.
  • Can I get to Saltfleetby on public transport?
There are buses running on Saturday (none on Sunday) from PC Coaches, service 50A: from either Louth or Mablethorpe, stopping at villages along the way. Concessionary bus passes are accepted and single fares are capped at £2. The full timetable can be seen here: https://www.pccoaches.co.uk/images/50_50a_effective_monday_15th_april_2024.pdf or Here: https://bustimes.org/services/50a-louth-manby-mablethorpe?date=2024-04-20&service=50A with live tracking information. You can book a Call Connect, which can pick you up at many local locations if they have availability. You can book on 0345 234 3344 from 1 hours' notice up to 7 days in advance. It's better to book in advance as availability is limited. Their buses are wheelchair accessible via a lift (you must tell them if you need to use the lift at time of booking). Bus passes are accepted. You’ll need to join/register your details, which is quick and free. For more about the Call Connect service see:
  • What if it rains?
We will carry on in the rain, bring an umbrella! There should be indoor space to shelter and enjoy a drink at the Old School Cafe.
  • Where's the nearest train station?
Cleethorpes railway station is the closest to Saltfleetby, approximately 20 miles away. Grimsby Station: approx 23 miles away Market Rasen Station: approx 24 miles away. Skegness Station: approx 26 miles away.
  • Are there toilets available?
Yes, there are toilets free to use at the Old School on the main road, LN11 7SN, including a wheelchair accessible toilet.
  • What is done with the donation money?
Money raised over the weekend will go towards future events organised by the Old School Hub Committee. We aim to help people in the village connect, especially to help the elderly and isolated community members to be included.
  • Is parking available?
There's plenty of free parking space at the Old School. I'd recommend leaving the car and walking around the village if you can, to see each garden.
  • Are there disabled toilets available?
Yes, there's a wheelchair accessible disabled toilet at the Old School, free of charge.
  • How much does it cost?
It's free to visit the gardens but donations are welcome. There will be a donations box at each location. Suggested £1 per garden.
  • How will I find which gardens are open?
All open gardens will display a notice board outside. We will also have a map on this website showing where each garden can be found and a printed map can be picked up at the event.
  • Do I need to book?
    No, just turn up.
  • What time is the event on?
The gardens open to the public from 11am to 2.30pm on the Saturday and Sunday. The date for the planned July 2025 has yet to be decided.
